Wednesday, August 10

Today the temperature reached a high of 34 C and, once again, there was no rain.

Jim and Nancy didn't have anything too exciting happen at school so there are no pictures. Jim did go to the dentist because he cracked a tooth while in Indonesia. The dentist was able to smooth over the sharp edge and make it better without much work.

Meanwhile Stephen and Betsy went for a long hike on the Charlie's Bunion Trail in the nearby Great Smokey Mountains National Park. This is a photo of the location in the mountains, but this picture does not include Stephen and Betsy. By the way, Charlie's Bunion is where Jim proposed to Nancy many years ago. Jim and Nancy also visited this spot less than a week before Stephen was born.
Jacob baked an awesome birthday cake for his friend Jordan. It includes chocolate chips, lots of white frosting, and chunks of raw cookie dough. I believe that this cake would be popular in Indonesia because it is very sweet.
Jacob lit the birthday candles on the cake and sang "Happy Birthday to You" for Jordan.
Jordan blew out the candles and then joined Jacob in devouring a sizable portion of the cake.
After work Nancy came home and mowed our back yard (behind the house). Nancy likes to mow as it gives her a sense of accomplishment as she pushes the mower around and cuts the grass. Jim went to the Y - a sort of health club - and worked out in the air conditioning. We are all three of us enjoying the air conditioning in America. Maybe we'll get tired of it in a few weeks, but I doubt it.
