Thursday August 11

It was another hot day in Knoxville, with the high temperature reaching 34 C. Still no rain, the grass is beginning to turn brown.

Nancy attended many planning meetings at her school and finished with some of her room decorations, including her beautiful door.
Classrooms in elementary schools must be decorated with colorful bulletin boards and posters. It looks like Nancy will be working on punctuation this year.
Meanwhile at Jim's school, Hardin Valley Academy, the morning was filled with meetings discussing the details of the first few days of school next week.

Our assistant principal Jon Miller helped present part of the "vision" for the school, while the principal, Sallee Reynolds, who sits in the background, later told us the exciting news that we would have over 2010 students this year.
Tonight was the start of (American) football season. This is not to be confused with Indonesian football, which is called soccer over here. All the high school football teams in the area played short practice games tonight in the huge football stadium of the University of Tennessee.
The stadium seats over 100,000 people and includes a mammoth video screen.
The good news is the Hardin Valley Hawks won the game 7 - 0. Our quarterback threw a pass which was caught in the end zone for a touchdown.
