Monday, August 8 in Knoxville

Today the temperature reached 33 C and we had a heavy rain in the afternoon. Nancy and Jim had to go to school for teacher training all day. Jacob's holiday continues through the end of this week.

Jacob slept late and relaxed at home. In the afternoon he was joined by a friend from church, Morgan. They baked some chocolate chip cookies and listened to music.
For dinner we grilled some chicken. Unlike in Siantar, in Knoxville you can buy packages of chicken from any grocery store. It is not as fresh as what you buy at the Passah Horus, but it is more convenient. Our deck is a wooden platform extending out from the back of our house. The grill sits out on the deck. It is burns propane gas, much like the stoves in Indonesia. The top cover closes down to trap in the heat.We are joined at home by our oldest son Stephen and his wife Betsy. They will be staying with us until Stephen receives his ministry call. At that point they will be moving to Texas, in the middle of America just above the border to Mexico.
This is Jim's senior high school: Hardin Valley Academy.
This is Nancy's class room at Dogwood Elementary, a primary school. She has not yet set it up for students. Our first day of teaching with students is next Monday. Both of our schools are public.
